Business Proposal

Business Proposal

Nowadays, our environment’s situation is at an all time low and water is a scarce resource. Barangay Sun Valley consists of both formal and informal settlers. This community was affected by the water stoppage that other barangays in other cities also experienced. We believe that this is a necessity because we need all the efforts we could get in order to improve the environment’s state, and at the same time, provide water supply to the residents of the barangay. Based on the community profile, we learned that Barangay Sun Valley does not really give high importance on waste segregation and trash management. This is the reason why want to make this business. Instead of just throwing away their ineffective plastics, they could just give it to us. Recycling will help reduce pollution caused by waste.

Our group has found a way wherein the residents could save the environment and provide water supply to those who need it. Resiklo works in a way that residents must bring a minimum of 1 kilogram worth of any material made out of plastic. Once the resident was able to bring these materials, water will be sold to them at 50 Pesos per 5 liters. Our team aims to provide residents of barangay Sun Valley with clean and potable drinking water that is of cheap cost, which is why we would partner up with Maynilad in order to help us in the filtration process.

The establishment of Resiklo areas are very unique because drinking water can easily be collected via purification and from water resources like lakes and rivers. It will be very cheap to set up the junk shops once we exclude the purchasing of land which would vary on how much space each branch would take up. Each branch would consist of the containers for the materials in order to segregate different things like plastics and cans. There will also be drums of water which would be given to those who need it, place for transactions, and incentives will be kept and given to the people.

The system is very simple. It is based on “bartering.” Yet deeply, the objectives are very essential. The first objective is to help our environment lessen solid waste materials in exchange with a vital supply to our health — a 5 L of drinking water. Many of us may incur or accumulate materials out of impulsiveness, but to drink a drinking water may open the eyes of our consumers to always save water. It makes our product different from others because instead of the usual doing of giving money to the consumer, we are giving them water. Our product encourages resourcefulness on people.

We will sell the recyclable materials that the residents will give us to companies who process these materials into different final products. An example would be Calypso Plastic Company that can be found in Binondo, Manila. It produces low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, and polypropylene plastic bags. Their product line has also expanded to include polystyrene food packaging items and plastic spoon and fork which are fabricated using injection molding technology. The money that we will get from this will be part of our earning.

Drinking water is very essential. It should be in any household in case of emergency or natural disaster. Our business lessens accumulated waste materials that are recyclables. It is also within the community — which involves the church, NGOs, business communities, academies, etc. It may provide house-to-house calls for old and busy customers. Lastly, it is properly disseminated to educate and appeal to everyone to be environment conscious. This will help us keep in mind to be ready even to the least of expected phenomena. Due to the high poverty levels in the many different areas of the country, extremely poor families resort to drinking tap water which contains bacteria that is unsafe to people.

Our product called Resiklo has a number of features, advantages and benefits. We will now discuss a few of these certain FABs. The features of Resiklo is having to use recyclable materials and since we use that the advantage towards recyclable materials is it helps residents earn water in a cheaper and eco-friendly way. The big benefit of that is it is easy to collect recyclable materials since these materials are nearly everywhere. That is one of the set of FABs we have we will be discussing 4 more. Another great feature we have is our store has a long and fixed set of store hours allowing people to deposit their materials in a very expandable time. This makes it available to all and is a good benefit.

Our estimated starting budget for our business, Resiklo, is 600 thousand pesos. We will be needing this because we will build materials for the junk shop like shelves and cabinets to put the goods. We will also have appliances like aircon, refrigerator, lights and restroom fixtures. Aside from this, it would also cover our initial and construction fees. Moreover, we need another 50 thousand pesos to have an initial inventory of goods. These goods will be the water bottles, filters, and sealant to stock up for the water to be sold at 50 pesos in exchange.

Resiklo’s target audience is practically everyone but is deliberately focused towards the masses, since Resisklo’s concept is like a junk shop — but instead of money, it will sell drinking water in a lower price in return. This plan will help the area, Barangay Sun Valley, since a lot of informal settlers are residing in the place by lessening or shortening their water consumption bill as they have a tight budget. Anybody will be entertained as long as they give their plastics and possibly recyclable materials to Resiklo branches.

We think that our product is useful especially for those people who are not rich because if they donate 1 kilogram of recyclable materials they can buy 5 liters of water which is really clean and safe to drink. It is so helpful for them because they can buy water for a cheap price and it can help their environment to keep clean by donating recyclable materials to us. Drinking water is a scarce resource, if circumstances make it scarce; such as water being polluted and contaminated and its availability in different areas. In conclusion, it all ends up to the choices we make. If you think that this program/service will benefit you, you would start thinking of ways to collect plastic materials that may be given to the shop.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS BUSINESS CONCEPT

One’s Life in the hands of one box

The Philippines is one of the most high-risk countries in the world for experiencing natural disasters. Typhoon Haiyan, also known as Yolanda, is one of the deadliest catastrophes to ever hit our country. It wiped out entire villages and left 4 million people homeless. In all, 14 million Filipinos were affected by the storm. In Barangay Sun Valley, they have a committee that will be in charged of the calamities that may occur. They are the ones who will prepare courses of action to take. Our business aims to prepare people in case tragic happenings will arise. We want the people in the community to be prepared anytime.

It is evident that the Philippines is prone to disasters since it is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Of course, we can't do anything to stop the forces of nature; what everyone can do is to be ready and know what to do if a disaster strikes. To ensure that all residents of Sun Valley are ready if ever a calamity strikes in the barangay, it is recommended that a survival kit is given to each household.

A disaster kit is very practical nowadays. This is because devastating incidents may be encountered anytime and are unpredictable. Foreseeing the “big one” that may hit our country, it is advisable to keep a well organized and labeled disaster kit within the reach of every family member, enterprise or company. Without this, you will be unprepared for what is about to happen, and worse, there is a lesser possibility for you to sustain yourself. Being prepared means being equipped with the proper supplies you need in the event of an emergency or disaster.

According to the Philippine Red Cross, in order to be fully prepared, you must have at least 8 bottles of distilled drinking water, 6 easy-to-open canned goods, some granola bars, at least 3 packs of dried food, (preferably mango or fish), a flashlight, whistle, face mask, wipes, first aid kit (betadine, band aids, liniment) and a battery powered radio. These supplies will be stored in a collapsible storage box which is somewhat like the concept of a makeup kit. We will make sure that you can easily use it at home or take it with you in case you must evacuate immediately. It will serve as a temporary stock of resources for the household. This is a “grab kit” — which means it is very easy and readily available to get in case of an emergency.

Our survival kit contains all the necessities a person may need before, during and after a disaster. Survival kits would usually contain heavy items which makes it hard for people to take it anywhere with them. Now, we came up with a better version for the benefit of the consumers. One thing unique about our product is how much it weighs. This weighs lighter than a normal kit which will make it easier to carry around. Not to mention, S.U.B. is also water resistant since it is made up of tin. It also has labeled sections.

When you open this, you will see different compartments that are collapsible and labeled completely. For example, all the medicines will be in one area. Then, the food will be in another area. This could help organize the contents within the box; it will avoid the joining of the materials to avoid confusion. It is made up of strong material so it will not break easily and is durable and waterproof. It is assured that it would stay in a good condition for a long time. Because of this, accessing or placing the materials will be a lot quicker. S.U.B. will feature a handle, and will have plenty of space for the materials needed which makes it portable for the people to carry their kits. In fact, the very bottom of the kit will be made specially for the storage of the 8 bottles of water.

Assembling the supplies you might need following a catastrophe is an important part of your disaster preparedness plan. Keeping a supply for evacuation will greatly help your whole family. Having extra supplies in an event of an evacuation can help your family survive. The kit contains very much needed materials to keep us sanitized, medicated, treated and protected in any case of disaster. However, it does not only save our lives, it also reminds us to be organized. Our product is unique from other disaster kits because it is handy, affordable, and can store many things inside.

It is part of the local government (mayor, congressmen, barangay officials) of the district to support community development programs. This is part of the fund allotted to the community. The NGO's are always willing to help any legitimate charitable activities. With regards to partnership with big food and medical companies, these will help them lessen up taxes and include in their promotional and advertisement campaigns. However, the group will do a lot of lobbying for the local government to help us pursue this program. We will be active in soliciting donations, funds and supports from multinational companies within the area. Therefore, it is safe to say that our kit will only cost around 500 pesos, through the help of those people who were mentioned above. Out of P500 per kit, the total sales would incur overhead expenses like transportation, paper works and other operational matters. In line with this, whatever we will gain from the sales, we will save it up to extend help again to those in need.

The target market would consist mostly of adults and those who are engaged in the labor force. This is because they can pay for it. For the parents, they can provide the disaster kits that will be of great help for their whole family, especially their children. To expand the sales, online and direct sales will be done.

We believe that everybody should have this because during a disaster, anybody in the community may be possible victims, which is why one must be truly ready and prepared. This must be a requirement in all schools, whether public or private and the elderly and disabled must be prioritized. We believe that our product is useful and will definitely help especially when disaster strikes. It is a more organized way of storing goods if ever severe events such as typhoons and earthquakes will happen. The product is different in a way that it makes packing for disasters easier because of the presence of collapsible dividers and labels in order to organize all the necessary materials. Also, the fact that it has a handle will help the user to transport the goods to anywhere where it’s needed. S.U.B. is one-of-a-kind innovation that may help us prepare for the inevitable disasters that may strike anytime. ONE'S LIFE IN THE HANDS OF ONE BOX.
